Frequently Asked Questions — Quality Control

AQL is the international standard (ISO 2859-1) used to determine the maximum acceptable number of defective units in a random sample. AQL 2.5 for Major defects and AQL 4.0 for Minor defects is standard for commercial consumer goods.

We recommend Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) when 80% to 100% of your order is produced and packed into master cartons. For complex manufacturing, In-Line DUPRO inspection is recommended at 20-50% completion.

Our QC team delivers a detailed PDF report with full photographic evidence, defect breakdown, and pass/fail recommendations within 24 hours of completing the factory visit.

If an inspection fails, Speedline issues a formal rejection notice. The supplier must rework or replace defective units at their expense before a re-inspection is conducted prior to releasing balance payment.

Our QC engineers are stationed in all major manufacturing provinces, including Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, Fujian, Hebei, and Sichuan.

Yes, for luxury items, high-precision electronics, or medical devices, we provide 100% sorting and piece-by-piece inspection at our warehouse or the supplier’s facility.

PRACTICAL QUALITY CONTROL FOR CHINA MANUFACTURING

Quality control is what protects your brand when manufacturing in China. Without independent inspections, you risk paying for defective products, incorrect packaging, or non-compliant goods that lead to customer returns and account suspensions once cargo arrives.

1. Why Quality Control Begins Before Raw Materials Enter the Factory

Catching flaws early saves time and money. Our inspectors verify incoming raw materials, steel alloys, plastics, and fabrics before assembly begins, making sure the factory does not substitute lower-grade components without your knowledge.

2. Statistical Sampling via ISO 2859-1 (AQL 2.5 / 4.0 Standards)

Inspecting 100% of a production run is expensive for most goods. We use ISO 2859-1 statistical sampling tables to select a representative sample (such as 125 or 200 units out of 5,000) for a thorough, reliable evaluation of batch quality.

3. Categorizing Defect Severity: Critical, Major, and Minor Defect Limits

During inspection, we categorize findings into three distinct levels: Critical defects (safety risks or legal non-compliance, zero tolerance), Major defects (functional failures or noticeable flaws that cause returns, AQL 2.5 limit), and Minor defects (small cosmetic imperfections that do not affect function, AQL 4.0 limit).

4. Physical Drop Testing (ISTA 1A) and Transit Packaging Checks

Product packaging must withstand rough transit. Our inspectors run 10-point ISTA 1A drop tests on packed master cartons, dropping them from set heights onto concrete floors to make sure inner goods stay safe during transport.

5. On-Site Electrical Safety, Voltage, and Barcode Scannability Tests

For electronic items, we test voltage input, battery charge cycles, and ground wiring safety. For retail and e-commerce goods, we test barcode scannability, carton gross weights, and product dimensions against your spec sheets.

6. In-Line Production Checks (DUPRO) vs. Pre-Shipment Inspections (PSI)

In-Line DUPRO inspection happens when 20% to 50% of your order is finished. It spots production line errors early so the factory can fix them. Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) happens at 80% to 100% completion, serving as the final approval before cargo leaves.

7. Verifying Packaging, Polybags, and Amazon FBA Label Compliance

Amazon fulfillment centers reject non-compliant packages. We check FNSKU barcode labels, suffocation warning text on polybags, outer box shipping marks, and carton weight limits before shipping.

8. Interpreting 24-Hour Digital Inspection PDF Reports

Within 24 hours of completing a factory visit, Speedline sends a clear, photo-documented PDF report. The report gives a clear Pass, Fail, or Pending status, supported by defect photos, measurement charts, and inspector notes.

9. Handling Rejections, Factory Reworks, and Balance Holds

If an inspection fails, Speedline issues a formal rejection notice. The supplier must sort, repair, or reproduce defective units at their own expense before we perform a re-inspection and authorize your final payment.

10. Container Loading Supervision (CLS) and High-Security Bolt Seals

During loading, our inspector monitors carton counts, container floor condition, and loading arrangements. Once loaded, we seal container doors with certified ISO 17712 high-security bolt seals, documenting seal numbers in the final report.
