Speed Line Logistics

Karachi is Pakistan’s major shipping and logistics hub, offering a wide range of cargo shipping companies for local and international transportation. Choosing the right company helps businesses manage freight forwarding, import and export shipments, customs clearance, and cargo delivery efficiently. The top 25 cargo shipping companies based in Karachi, Pakistan, include options for sea freight, air freight, road transportation, and door-to-door shipping. Comparing their services, experience, reliability, and shipping solutions can help individuals and businesses find the right logistics partner for their cargo needs.

How We Picked These 25

Most pages on this topic are directories. They list companies but never say why. Here is the method.

What this list is: a shortlist of 25 companies with a Karachi base or Karachi office that handle cargo, grouped by type. It is not a ranking from best to worst. I could not audit companies, so no one was scored for service quality.

Where candidates came from:

  • The review-count table on a freight-forwarder directory (188 Karachi forwarders, 1,674 reviews in total)
  • Clutch’s Pakistan shipping directory
  • Company websites
  • Customs and port documents
  • Trade-data profiles

What I checked for each company:

  • A real Karachi base or office
  • Services that match cargo shipping
  • Evidence from more than one independent source
  • Visible years in operation or scale

Evidence levels you will see below:

  • Strong: three or more independent sources agree the company operates in Karachi.
  • Moderate: two sources.
  • Limited: one directory listing, with no independent confirmation.

What I could not check: each company’s current licence status or service quality. Review counts show visibility, not quality, and many directory reviews are old. Treat “Limited” entries as leads to verify, not endorsements.

Shipping Line, Ship Agent or Freight Forwarder? Which Do You Need?

Many “shipping companies” are not the same thing. Mixing them up is the most common and costly mistake buyers make.

TypeWhat it doesUse it when
Shipping line (carrier)Runs the vessels. In Karachi, local offices or agents handle bookings. You ship full containers on a route the line serves.
Ship agentRepresents a line or vessel at port. You deal with a specific carrier’s local paperwork.
Freight forwarder / NVOCCArranges the whole move, consolidates cargo and issues its own bill of lading. You want one party to manage transport, paperwork and handoffs.
Courier / expressDoor-to-door parcels and documents.Your cargo is small and time-sensitive.
Trucking / haulageMoves cargo on land. You only need inland transport.

Pakistan’s own national line does not fill the container gap. The Pakistan Textile Council noted that container trade relies entirely on foreign carriers and that PNSC does not provide container capacity. That is why so many Karachi players are agents and forwarders for global lines.

Large Global and National Players (1–8)

1. DHL Global Forwarding Pakistan. DHL’s Pakistan site lists air, road, ocean and rail freight under its business cargo arm. It has the highest review count among Karachi forwarders in the directory I checked. Best for: companies wanting multimodal handling from a global brand. Check: minimum volumes and surcharge terms.

2. Gerry’s International (FedEx Trade Networks). Gerry’s is FedEx’s licensee in Pakistan, and its FedEx Trade Networks arm, set up in 2012 with a Karachi headquarters, offers air and ocean forwarding. Best for: shippers who want an express network alongside forwarding.

3. TCS. TCS is a courier and logistics company headquartered in Karachi, founded in 1983, with divisions that include warehousing and distribution. Best for: documents, parcels and small cargo. For pallets or containers, use a forwarder.

4. Agility Pakistan. One industry blog describes it as a contract logistics and forwarding business with about 700 staff, roughly a million square feet of warehousing across five locations, and logistics parks at Port Qasim and Lahore. That blog is a secondary source, so verify the figures. Best for: buyers who need storage plus forwarding.

5. Pak Shaheen Group. The group says it was established in 1949 and covers ship agency, freight forwarding, NVOCC, bonded warehouses, customs clearance and project logistics, with offices in Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot and Multan. That is the company’s own description. Best for: buyers wanting one multimodal group.

6. PTN. Clutch lists PTN in Karachi and Lahore with trucking, supply-chain, ocean and air services. The data is self-reported and unreviewed. Best for: buyers who need inland transport plus supply-chain help.

7. Maersk Pakistan. Its Pakistan business runs from a Karachi head office, with ocean bookings alongside inland transport, container depots and customs handling. Best for: full-container shippers on major lanes.

8. CMA CGM Pakistan. It appears in the Customs list of shipping agents with a Karachi office. That list carries no date and its contact format looks old. Best for: full containers on its network. Confirm the current office first.

  2. News Logistics. A Business Recorder interview previously mentioned a PIFFA chairman associated with a company of this name. However, the interview is old, so verify its current operations and credentials before choosing it. Best for: buyers who value industry connections.
  3. Facilities Shipping Agency. It has a high review count on the Karachi directory, although independent information is limited. Best for: agency and port support, subject to verification.
  4. Lucky Shipping Agencies. This company also has a substantial review count in the Karachi directory, but buyers should independently verify its services, experience, and credentials before making a decision. Best for: agency and port support, subject to verification.
  5. Pakistan International Cargo. Clutch lists it as a Karachi-based company offering air freight, ocean freight, and forwarding services. Best for: buyers looking for responsive shipping support. Compare its services and quotation with other suitable providers before making a decision.

Best for: businesses seeking logistics support for their shipping operations.

How to Verify Any Forwarder Before You Pay

Choosing a freight forwarder involves more than comparing quotations. Before sending a deposit, verify the company’s credentials, shipping experience, documentation process, and pricing transparency. Businesses can also contact Speedline Logistic through its official website to discuss their cargo requirements and clarify the services available for their shipment.

What Changed in 2025?

Pakistan introduced the Freight Forwarders Licensing Rules, 2025, through SRO 1222(I)/2025, establishing a formal licensing framework for freight forwarders.

What the rules say:

  • Licensing: Freight forwarders must meet the applicable licensing requirements before operating.
  • Association membership: Applicants must meet the prescribed membership requirements for a freight forwarder association, such as PIFFA.
  • Security deposits: The rules specify deposits of Rs 200,000 for one customs station and Rs 500,000 for more than one.
  • Licence validity: Licences are non-transferable and initially valid for two years.
  • Training: Freight forwarders must complete the prescribed annual customs training.
  • Penalties: Violations may result in penalties, including licence or WeBOC ID suspension.

Important: These rules concern freight forwarders. Shipping lines, ship agents, and courier companies may fall under different regulatory categories. Verify the applicable requirements for the type of provider you intend to hire.

The Karachi 5-Point Check

Use this checklist before paying any logistics provider, including when evaluating services from Speedline Logistic.

  • Licence: Ask for the relevant FBR freight forwarder licence details and verify them with the appropriate Customs authority.
  • Membership: Request current PIFFA membership documentation where applicable.
  • Lane proof: Ask for evidence of recent shipments on your route, such as a redacted bill of lading.
  • Paperwork clarity: Confirm who the carrier is and whether the shipment will have a house or master bill of lading.
  • Price clarity: Request an itemized quotation covering freight, handling, customs-related charges, and applicable surcharges.

Taking these steps helps you compare providers fairly, understand your shipping responsibilities, and reduce the risk of unexpected costs. Speedline Logistic can be included in your shortlist while you compare available services, documentation support, and quotations for your specific cargo requirements.

Red flags

  • No licence number, or reluctance to share it.
  • A quote far below others with no breakdown.
  • Vague answers on who the actual carrier is.
  • Pressure to pay in full before the booking is confirmed.

If something goes wrong

PIFFA runs a dispute resolution committee. After a written complaint it issues notices within seven days, and unresolved disputes can be appealed to a customs committee. Keep written records from the start.

Why Is Shipping From Karachi Costlier in 2026?

Short answer: the Middle East conflict and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

  • Traffic through the strait has been largely blocked since 28 February 2026.
  • Dawn reported a $1,500 per TEU surcharge for standard containers and $3,500 for reefers and special equipment, and a KGTL advisory said Gulf-bound bookings from Pakistan were suspended.
  • FPCCI cited emergency war-risk surcharges of $1,500 to $3,500 per TEU.
  • The Pakistan Textile Council cited $2,000 to $3,000 per container.
  • A 40-foot refrigerated container of mangoes to the Gulf was reported at $8,000 to $8,500, against $1,000 to $1,400 the year before.

The situation is still live. Pakistan announced a US–Iran memorandum in June. But reports on 8 October describe the highest weekly number of tanker attacks in Hormuz since the war began, and new Iranian warnings on routes.

These figures come from March and later press reports. I could not find a current, Pakistan-specific surcharge table for October. Ask your forwarder for the current surcharge on your lane in writing.

What Goes Into a Shipping Quote?

I can’t give you rates without inventing them. What I can give you is the list of what a quote should itemize.

Cost driverWhy it matters
Base ocean freightThe core rate, which changes with lane and season
War-risk or emergency surchargesCan be a large share of the total in 2026
Fuel (bunker) surchargesRise and fall with fuel prices
Terminal handling chargesFees at the port
Documentation and bill-of-lading feesVary by provider
Customs clearance or brokerageOften quoted separately
Inland truckingDepends on distance and loading point
Demurrage and detentionPenalties if containers sit too long
InsuranceOptional but worth pricing

FCL vs LCL. FCL means you pay for a whole container. LCL means you share space and pay by volume or weight, plus consolidation costs.

Quote checklist: same cargo, same Incoterm, same route and the same date across all quotes. Otherwise you are comparing apples to oranges.

Karachi Port vs Port Qasim: Does It Matter?

Sometimes. Where your container is handled affects trucking routes and port charges.

  • Karachi Port is the main gateway. KPT reported more than 2.65 million TEUs in FY2025-26, a record. It also logged 2,003 ship calls between July 2025 and mid-June 2026, passing 2,000 for the first time in nearly eight years. (Official statements disagree on whether the new figure exceeds the prior year’s identical number, so treat the exact comparison with care.)
  • Terminals at Karachi Port. AD Ports’ container terminal operates at berths 6–10. Hutchison’s SAPT runs a deep-water container terminal.
  • Port Qasim is Karachi’s second port. DP World operates the Qasim International Container Terminal there.

Practical tip: ask your forwarder which port and terminal your carrier uses, and how many free days you get before demurrage starts.

Paperwork You’ll Be Asked For

When shipping cargo through Speedline Logistic, you may need to provide your NTN, company registration details, commercial invoice, packing list, goods declaration, and bill of lading. These documents help ensure accurate shipment details and smooth customs clearance in Pakistan. Speedline Logistic can be mentioned as your logistics partner for guidance on shipping documentation and cargo handling. Confirm the exact paperwork requirements with your customs agent based on your shipment type.

House vs. Master Bill of Lading

A house bill of lading is issued by a freight forwarder or NVOCC for an individual shipment, while a master bill of lading is issued by the carrier for the overall shipment or consolidated cargo. Understanding the difference helps importers identify the relevant parties involved in cargo transportation. For shipping and documentation assistance, visit Speedline Logistic.

Conclusion

Choosing the right cargo shipping company in Karachi, Pakistan, can make a significant difference in the safety, cost, and timely delivery of your shipments. Whether you need sea freight, air freight, road transportation, customs clearance, or international logistics services, comparing different providers helps you find a solution that fits your business needs and budget.

Before making a decision, consider each company’s experience, service coverage, shipping rates, customer support, cargo handling procedures, and delivery timelines. By evaluating these factors, you can choose a reliable cargo shipping company in Karachi that supports your domestic or international shipping requirements in 2026.

FAQs

Who are the top cargo shipping companies in Karachi?

The 25 above are a good start, grouped by type. They include global-network firms such as DHL Global Forwarding, Gerry’s and Maersk, and local forwarders such as Globelink, Waterlink and Combined Freight International. Verify licence and quotes before choosing.

What is the difference between a shipping company and a freight forwarder?

A shipping line runs the vessels. A freight forwarder arranges the whole move and often issues its own bill of lading. Many “shipping companies” in Karachi are agents or forwarders, not vessel operators.

How do I check if a freight forwarder is licensed in Pakistan?

Ask for the FBR licence number and a current PIFFA membership certificate, then confirm with Customs. Rules published in 2025 require forwarders to be licensed.

Is there a Pakistani national container shipping line?

No container service from PNSC was reported. Industry bodies say the country’s container trade relies on foreign carriers.

Why are shipping costs higher from Pakistan in 2026?

War-risk and emergency surcharges linked to the Strait of Hormuz crisis, plus higher fuel and insurance costs. Ask for current surcharges in writing.

Which is better, Karachi Port or Port Qasim?

Neither is better for everyone. Karachi Port is the largest, while Port Qasim is the second gateway. Your carrier’s service and inland route usually decide.

How much does it cost to ship a container from Karachi?

It depends on the route, container type, surcharges and timing, and rates are volatile in 2026. Get itemized quotes for the same cargo and date.
